Eastern Missouri Alliance for Clean Transportation carries out its mission by bringing accessible clean energy solutions to the community. We are at the forefront of Missouri’s shift towards a sustainable future. Our commitment to clean energy and alternative fuels is paving the way for the state to become an environmental stewardship hub. Our initiatives are geared towards promoting long-lasting sustainability through the sharing of knowledge, the building of networks, and the advancement of clean energy.

ST. LOUIS VEHICLE ELECTRIFICATION RIDES FOR SENIORS (SiLVERS)

Eastern Missouri Alliance for Clean Transportation has partnered with Forth to bring the AMP program to St. Louis residents. EM-ACT’s St. Louis Vehicle Electrification Rides for Seniors (SiLVERS) project currently has Chevy Volt EVs available at two downtown community centers, Northside Youth and Senior Service Center (NYSSC) and City Seniors Inc. (CSI). The Silvers Electric Vehicle program, recently featured in a MotorWeek Auto World segment, offers free transportation and meal delivery services to seniors with limited mobility options. The program tackles the transportation challenges seniors often face by offering a sustainable and emissions-free option as an alternative to other modes of transportation.

CLEAN SCHOOL BUS PROGRAM

Through its grant writing assistance program, Eastern Missouri Alliance for Clean Transportation aids Greater St. Louis schools in reaching their sustainable transportation objectives. EM-ACT played a crucial role in securing a grant that provided a fleet of electric school buses to Ritenour School District, an EM-ACT partner, through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Clean School Bus Program. The $9,495,000 EPA grant will go towards the costs of purchasing 24 new electric buses and the infrastructure needed at the bus depot to charge and maintain the vehicles. By facilitating the transition to electric school buses, EM-ACT not only supports sustainable practices but also prioritizes the health and well-being of students who benefit from cleaner air quality during their daily commute. This successful collaboration serves as a shining example of how partnerships can drive positive change and create a more environmentally conscious future for generations to come.

GREAT RIVER ROAD INTIATIVE

The project will support collaboration across ten states along the Mississippi River, as well as activities within each state individually that align with the overall goals. Clean Cities and Communities coalitions will serve as a bridge between state and regional efforts, ensuring information and guidance flows both to and from local partners. Outreach, engagement, communications, and other efforts will be used to begin addressing barriers to wider use of clean vehicles along the Great River Road, to promote infrastructure site hosts and the route itself as destinations for tourism, and to benefit residents and businesses of the communities along the scenic byway. Technical assistance will be provided to support infrastructure development and future funding applications. Opportunities will be identified to reduce petroleum use and emissions in river transportation, communities, and businesses along the riverway.
