Rebranding Reflects Expanded Regional Focus and Commitment to Sustainable Transportation
EASTERN MISSOURI, October 4th, 2024 — After nearly 30 years of championing sustainable transportation solutions in the Greater St. Louis Metropolitan area, the St. Louis Regional Clean Cities coalition has rebranded as the Eastern Missouri Alliance for Clean Transportation (EM-ACT). This new name not only reflects the coalition’s expanded regional focus but also underscores its commitment to driving toward a cleaner, more sustainable future for Eastern Missouri.
Formerly St. Louis Regional Clean Cities (STLRCC), EM-ACT has been a driving force in promoting alternative fuels and energy-efficient technologies in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Over its 30-year lifespan, STLRCC has successfully replaced 188 million gallons of gas and diesel with domestic fuels and offsetted over a million tons of greenhouse gas. With the region’s growing demand for innovative, environmentally friendly transportation and fuel solutions, EM-ACT is broadening its mission to serve the entirety of Eastern Missouri.
EM-ACT’s aims to lead the region towards a future where alternative fuel technologies are integral to daily life. By 2035, the coalition hopes that clean, American-made fuels and innovative technologies contribute to a low- or zero-emissions environment throughout Eastern Missouri, improving quality of life and ensuring the health and well-being of all residents.
In addition to this rebrand, EM-ACT is unveiling their new website, http://em-act.org, which serves as a comprehensive resource for community members, stakeholders, and partners as well as provides information on clean transportation, alternative fuels, and energy-efficient technologies.
“Our transition to EM-ACT represents a step forward in our commitment to fostering a cleaner and more sustainable future across the entirety of Missouri,” said Erin O’Brien, Program Manager of EM-ACT. “With our new name and website, we aim to enhance our outreach and provide our communities with the tools and information needed to make informed decisions about clean transportation options.”
EM-ACT’s Key Actions Include:
- Championing Alternative Fuels: Advocating for cleaner energy solutions.
- Educating and Informing: Providing communities with the knowledge necessary to make informed clean transportation choices.
- Building Networks: Connecting fuel providers, lawmakers, and consumers to promote clean energy vehicles and practices.
Advancing Clean Energy: Positioning Missouri as a leader in the clean fuels arena.
“Most people are interested in alternative fuel technologies, like hybrid and electric vehicles, but have no idea of where to go to learn more,” said Kevin Herdler, Executive Director of EM-ACT. “Switching vehicles or investing in new technology can feel like a risk. EM-ACT aims to make this transition easier by providing clear and comprehensive tools for locating and utilizing alternative fuel technologies.”
As a Clean Cities Coalition supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, EM-ACT leverages its extensive expertise and industry networks to make Eastern Missouri a model of energy efficiency and innovation. The coalition’s rebranding and new website are integral to transform each mobility step into progress towards a greener future.
